Hello there. This is Dr. Bruce Farmer, and I’ve been asked, do I have a favorite quote? Well, we all have inspirational quotes that mean a great deal to us, but this one really tops the list because it applies to all of us When we are faced with difficult tasks, when destiny calls. You’re challenged with something that’s greater than you can imagine achieving.

What is it that prevents you from achieving your goal? It’s the critic, the people around you that criticize you and the inner voice that says you can’t do it. It took me five years really to write this book. And during that time there, I wanted to put it down, but listen to this. It is not the critic who counts, not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles or where the doer of deeds could have done them.

The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood. Who strives valiantly? Who errs, who comes short again and again? Who at the best? Knows in the end the triumph of high achievement and who at the worst if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly.
